Students are fully integrated into all aspects of the firm during their time with us and can expect to be exposed to all of the firm’s practice areas. Our goal is to provide our students with a well-rounded experience, developing a broad base of skills in a variety of legal settings.
Our articling program strives to develop students into competent associates. We hope to develop interests in various areas of practice so our students will eventually feel comfortable establishing and developing their own practice areas. We help our students develop skills in the following areas:
We realize that life isn’t all about the law. We strive to give our articling students work-life balance by encouraging participation in community and firm activities, as well as providing our students with “CPLED Days”, a full day off work each week to focus on CPLED assignments.
We primarily look for “firm fit” and personality. Law school and undergraduate grades are a consideration, as well as previous work experience.
We typically hire 1-2 articling students and 1-2 summer students. Students in 1st year and 2nd year are both encouraged to apply to our summer program.
You will be given constant feedback on your work throughout your time with us. You can expect informal feedback from meetings or emails with lawyers, and we will meet with you one on one throughout your time with us to give you a more formal evaluation. Our doors
are always open for student questions, and we are always looking for suggestions to improve our student programs.
We offer a salary that is competitive with other firms in Edmonton and the surrounding area. We provide our articling students with comprehensive benefits.
