The lawyers and staff at Birdsell Grant LLP would like to welcome Michael Swanberg to the firm. Michael is a first year law students, who will be assisting at the firm throughout the summer of 2014. Michael Swanberg, B.A. (First Class Honours, 2009), M.A. (2011), J.D. Candidate 2016
Michael is originally from Calgary, Alberta. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Calgary in 2009, graduating with First Class Honours. He went on to complete a Master of Arts in History from the University of Calgary in 2011. During his graduate studies, Michael was the recipient of the J. Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada for his thesis research on federal political organization in Alberta in the 1950s. Michael worked as a Project Coordinator at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver for two years prior to beginning his legal studies in 2013. He has recently completed his first year of law school at the University of Alberta.
Michael has volunteered with the Criminal and Family Law projects at Student Legal Services of Edmonton, and performed as a singer in Law Show 2014, “Alawddin.” He has performed with a variety of choral groups, including the Calgary Philharmonic Chorus. In his spare time, he enjoys reading about current affairs, attending musical performances, and spending time with his wife, Rachel.
